Diversionary Tactic Leads To $1200 Snatched From Vehicle: Fairfield PD

A trick involving thumbtacks led to $1200 in cash being stolen from a vehicle in Fairfield on Tuesday, April 2, authorities said.

At 1:35 pm., a Hispanic man in his 30s approached two separate vehicles in the parking lot of a Chase Bank on Passaic Avenue, Fairfield police said in a release. 

The man told the drivers thumbtacks were scattered near their tires, police said

While the drivers were distracted, a Hispanic woman in her 20s entered one vehicle and stole an envelope containing $1200 in cash, police said. The suspects fled the scene in a black Nissan Rogue with no front license plate, police said.
